Green ECCMID

We are aware of the environmental impact that an event like ECCMID has on our planet, in terms of use of resources and energy as well as on waste production. This is why we are working to make ECCMID more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Here are some of the steps we took in this direction for ECCMID 2022, and more will be announced in the following weeks.

Food Waste

We are happy to announce that the ECCMID catering organisers are working with REFOOD, an independent, sustainable movement dedicated to rescuing good food and feeding people in need through the inclusion of the local community. With this partnership we are working to ensure that there as little food waste as possible thoruhgout the entire onsite event. You can learn more about the movement on their website.

Stand building

A-booth is active in applying sustainable practices in its business, like the use of sustainable materials in their stands.

Gadgets

Congress bags and pens will be the ones from 2020 that could not be used. Our congress bags are made of recycled textiles, while pens are made of recycled bottles. We will also collect all the promotional material that participants will not keep and donate it.

Reducing print

In the past years, we have progressively decreased the amount of flyer printing. In 2022, we aim at further reducing it. All the necessary information will be available to the participants through QR codes and on our app and website. The printed Programme Book will be available only for participants who request it in advance. The complete programme will be available online and on our congress app for everyone.

Environmental protection and mobility

We try to support environmentally friendly arrival and departure of participants. ECCMID participants will receive free tickets for Lisbon public transport for the whole duration of the Congress.

We are conscious that there is still much work to do and we would be glad to receive your ideas on how to improve. Please do not hesitate to contact us at eccmid(at)escmid.org.
